Best Girl Athlete airplay

Really pleased to say that Best Girl Athlete has been receiving some well-earned attention, reviews and plays of her self-penned track Talk from forthcoming album Carve Every Word. In particular, airplay on the Vic Galloway Show and the Roddy Hart Show, both on BBC Radio Scotland has been great news for Katie. The album is receives it’s UK release on 2nd March.

Back to Basics

Shmu FM

What’s a Shmu? I don’t know but I’m popping along to their studio this evening for a blether about the label and some of the projects. Death Let Her and The Great Bear will be there to play a few tracks as well. Tune in here.

I lied, it stands for Station House Media Unit!

Dear Aberdeen Compilation

Various Aberdeen musicians were invited to put communications and correspondence from or to Aberdeen into spoken word and/or musical form. Dear Aberdeen is the result and themes range from debt requests, 18th century complaints to the local press to unrequited love. Cover art is by Alan Davidson of Kitchen Cynics.

Although this is a free to download compilation, there is the choice to pay. All money made from the sale of this compilation will be donated to Food Banks Partnership Aberdeen. If you do not wish to donate to this charity, please do not feel obliged to pay. The compilation is available at the label bandcamp page here.

2014 Sampler available now to download for free!

Really rather pleased to be able to offer the first Fitlike Records sampler for free from our Bandcamp page here. There might be a few familiar names but also some you may never heard of before so well worth checking out.  One track i’m affa pleased about is Foul Friday. We asked Kitchen Cynics to create music around a sample of a playful old song about an Aberdeen character sung by Aberdeen political activist Bob Cooney. Thanks to Topic Records for the use of the Foul Friday sample.
